History and its Significance

Kheerganga in Kasol holds a deep mythological significance, associated with the Ganga river. Its milky waters, resembling the Indian dessert ‘Kheer’, flow continuously into the Parvati valley, believed to be blessed by Lord Shiva and Parvati. Legends speak of Lord Shiva’s meditation here, along with Kartikeya’s prayers. It’s said that during Satyug, Kheer emerged from the Ganga, later transformed into a hot spring by Parshuram during Kalyug. The hot spring’s mineral-rich water is believed to have healing properties for skin and stomach ailments.

Our Adventure

Our first trek to Kheerganga was like stepping into a whole new world of fun and surprises. At first, We thought it would be a simple straightforward hike, but oh boy, we were wrong!, it was filled with many twist and turns. The trekkers may label it as a simple hike, but for us, it was nothing short of adventure and full of surprises.

Imagine this: a bright morning, we were all excited and ready to hit the trail. But then, out of nowhere, boom! Rain poured down like crazy. The path turned into a slide, making every step a balancing act.

But we weren’t about to let a little rain ruin our day. We kept going, crossing streams and shaky wooden bridges.

Walking across the narrow, slippery wooden bridge on my way to the top of Kheerganga.
Rain, Rain, Go Away!

With no guide to show us the way, we relied on our instincts and each other, moving forward into the unknown.

Night fell faster than expected, and we started to feel a bit worried. The rain kept coming, slowing us down like we were wrestling against the weather. But we weren’t giving up. We wanted to reach that top, no matter what. I would suggest starting early for this trek as it gets dark early in the mountains.

At long last, it felt like forever, but we made it to our destination. We were tired, but oh, the feeling of victory warmed our hearts. Looking at the stunning mountains made all the challenges disappear

But here’s the kicker: we were completely soaked from the rain, and on top of that, we caught a cold and fever. I was feeling so hot and sick that I had to take medicine. I grabbed some paracetamol and hit the sack early, skipping dinner.

Even though we struggled with fever and feeling uncomfortable all night, waking up to a new day felt like a fresh start. We saw the sun rising and felt the cool breeze, but sadly, the hot spring pool was closed. But, we were allowed to use buckets to soak in the warm water, which was still pretty awesome.

The altitude is high, but the vibes are higher.

We had Maggie noodles for breakfast! Mountains and Maggie really are a match made in heaven.

With the sun beaming down, we headed back down the mountain, excited to see what else was out there waiting for us. And going down was just as cool. Waterfalls crashing down, big mountains saying hi—it was like Mother Nature was putting on a show just for us.

Nature’s own shower!

When we got back to base camp, we were tired but super happy. This trek had thrown everything at us, but we came out stronger and closer. Looking back, we knew this was a trip we’d always remember.
